Fight for Gladiators: Cotton Bud Campaign
June 29, 2009Gladiators couple Doom and Enigma, aka Wayne Gordon and Jenny Pacey, are backing a fast-growing fan campaign to return the cancelled Sky1 show to our screens, by bombarding new Sky controller Stuart Murphy with an ear-full – of cotton buds!
The loved-up pair, aka Wayne Gordon and Jenny Pacey, put fans of the show through a gruelling Boot Camp to promote the campaign. Lycra-clad beauty Enigma joked: “We’ve lost our jobs! So we’re encouraging people to join the fight to bring back Gladiators!”
Paul Noddings of the Gladiators Zone web site, said: “One of the first things people think of when you mention Gladiators, are the ‘Giant Cotton Buds’ used on the show. They’re actually called Pugil Sticks, but this common representation seemed an appropriate way to grab Stuart Murphy’s attention”.
“The cotton buds have a dual purpose – we also want him to use the cotton buds to clean his ears out and listen to the fans!”
It is hoped that Sky – or even another network – might pick up the rights to the show as a result of the cotton-bud-campaign.
